The Secrets We Bury by Stacie Ramey–Wow!

The Secrets We Bury by Stacie Ramey–Wow!

Dylan Taggart is on the run in Stacie Ramey‘s newest young adult book. It’s a gem!! THE SECRETS WE BURY. You can preorder now. (It won’t be out until March 2018 . . . bummer . . . but I found a secret copy to read!) Here’s a teaser: “In an effort to escape his family, Dylan sets out on the Appalachian trail—but he can’t escape his past—or his secrets,” or a girl, hiking alone, called the Ghost.

This book is full of hurt and heart and has a special hero–Dylan Taggart. He’s a boy on the autism spectrum and watching him navigate the trail, as well as issues of his heart, provides a fascinating look at a special person. If you’re a lover of show THE GOOD DOCTOR, or the book THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, you’ll love this. Don’t wait. Order now!

Keep on reading!

Wielding the Right Words (and the right journals)

Wielding the Right Words (and the right journals)

hand writing Here’s the link to a new article I’ve written for Michigan’s SCBWI PAL newsletter about how words have their own personalities. And it’s also about how utilizing targeted journals is much more helpful than general journaling. (At least for me!)

It’s here: https://scbwimipalnewsletter.wordpress.com/2017/07/

The MAZZA Museum Exhibit in Michigan, 2017

The MAZZA Museum Exhibit in Michigan, 2017

So excited! The MAZZA is coming to the Saline District Library, Saline, Michigan. The MAZZA Museum houses “the world’s first and most diverse collection of original artwork by children’s book illustrators. Through these select pieces you will encounter the creative processes behind picture book art — cover work, color separations, editorial notes on preliminaries, character development sketches, preparatory storyboards, and much more.”

June 3rd through Aug. 26th. Make it a destination this summer!

I’m certainly going!
(And the library itself is a small gem.)
