Crystal Kite Winner Patrice Barton Honored at SCBWI Site . . .

Crystal Kite Winner Patrice Barton Honored at SCBWI Site . . .

Patrice Barton illustrated MINE! (written by me), for Knopf in 2011.  She was honored by winning a Crystal Kite award for her work. This award is given by the voting members of SCBWI (Soc. of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators).  YAY, Patrice!!!

There’s a very nice piece about her and her work at the SCBWI blog site.  Its at:  http://scbwi.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-2012-crystal-kite-winner-profiles.html .

Stop by while it’s still up. And a little bird recently notified me that Patrice and I are not done collaborating. There’ll be another book out with Alfred A. Knopf in the near future, titled UH-OH!   (no pub. date yet).

Enjoy!

(p.s.:  MINE! just came out in board book format for those young readers who like to taste their books as they read . . . yum!)

13,000 Year-old Finger-painting!

13,000 Year-old Finger-painting!

I just heard the BBC news about some of the artwork in the caves of southern France. It appears that four individual children, one as young as two, made the cave art. And since the children’s art is primarily confined to one of the cave regions . . . it appears it was a kind of art school. How cool is that?

Not only that, one of the repeated drawings kind of looks like a hut. As kids today draw houses, perhaps these children were also drawing pictures of where they lived. So wonderful!!
