First Review in for MOUSELING’S WORDS!

First Review in for MOUSELING’S WORDS!

The first review of MOUSELING’S WORDS came out from Kirkus, and it’s a great one! (Already! The book won’t be published until Dec. 5. But you can preorder now.) A snippet here: “The tale is well-paced with just the right amount of gentle adventure to appeal to young humans discovering the world of words and books for themselves. Encouraging, lovely words.”

Woo-hoo!!!

Also, I love the descriptive text the publisher has included:

“In this lively introduction to the pleasure of words, a timid young mouse’s first trip out of the nest becomes a reading adventure. Mouseling has grown up surrounded by words, scraps of paper torn from menus. Once he leaves the nest, he decides that discovering words is his mission in life and finds more words than he can count, spelling and sounding them out, thrilled by each one. The library offers a treasure trove of words, also danger: a cat. When Mouseling realizes that the cat would rather know what’s in the books than eat him for dinner, he starts reading aloud to the cat–the best gift he can give in exchange for the world of stories.”

Can’t wait for it to get here–December 5–just in time for holiday gift-giving.

Cheers!

Tracy Bilen: Cover reveal for WATCH YOUR BACK

WatchYourBack

I am soooooo excited to show off the cover of a friend, Tracy Bilen’s upcoming novel: WATCH YOUR BACK. Isn’t it great? If you’re looking for well-written YA/Teen mystery-thrillers with a dash of romance . . . Tracy’s books are the ones you have to read.

Here’s the scoop:

When sixteen-year-old Kate hears the boom that ends her parents’ life, she doesn’t even realize it has anything to do with her. Until the police arrive at her front door.
Sent to live with her aunt at a ski school in Vermont, Kate tries to adapt to her new life. But then Kate’s aunt is hit by a speeding car and a rogue FBI agent tries to force Kate into his car at gunpoint. She’s saved by Ryan, the risk-taking skier she’s only just met.

On the run, the two must unravel the truth about her parents’ murder in order to stop a terrorist plot and save their own lives.
Way to go, Tracy!

Dozens of Cousins Cover Reveal!

Dozens of Cousins Cover Reveal!

TinyCrumDozens300res

I’m so excited to be able to show you the cover of my next book–due out in the summer of 2013 and illustrated by David Catrow. WOW!  I absolutely love his energetic children . . . an accurate reflection of me and my cousins and our “monsterousness” as children.  (And wait until you see the wonderful, funny artwork inside!)

Clarion, 2013.

Dozens of Cousins cover by David Catrow

Dozens of Cousins cover by David Catrow

And oh how I LOVE the flap text the editors wrote:  Esp.:  “A lively, lyrical celebration of the sweet, sweet abandon of running amok among those who love you best.”

Here it is in full:

“We are wild and fierce. We do not wait for invitations.” It’s time for the annual family reunion, and the dozens of cousins are running wild like beasties. Like hungry ogres! They hug fluttering aunts and soft-spoken elders, play in the creek, shimmy up trees, take “double-dog dares,” and devour “the sweet juiciness of the world” along with hot dogs and watermelon. Hilarious side stories unfold in Catrow’s fantastically colorful, chaotic spreads that gambol and splash with comical caricatures of grinning kinfolk large and small. A lively, lyrical celebration of the sweet, sweet abandon of running amok among those who love you best.”

(It’s now available online for pre-ordering.)

Happy Dancing!
